SEASONS IN THE SUN
《Seasons in the Sun》是翻唱的经典曲目，家喻户晓。其原作者为Jacques Brel。

事实上，「Seasons in the Sun」绝对不是一首愉快的曲子，甚至还十分的伤感。它是一位法国歌手Jacques Brel的作品，原名叫做「Le Moribond」（临终的人），发表于1961年。歌曲的内容大致描述一个罹患癌症、不久于人世的男子，在面临死亡的时候，对父亲、妻子以及挚友的依依难舍。
Brel私交相当不错的美国诗人歌手Rod McKuen，很早就把这首歌曲翻译成英文的「Seasons in the Sun」，并且在1964年由民歌界元老的Kingston Trio率先灌录成唱片，不过当时并没有造成太大的轰动。后来，跟Rod McKuen颇有交情的Terry Jacks把它重新灌录，在1974年的三月二日获得全美排行三周冠军，原本也没有在中国受到太多注意，直到几年之后，才因为柯达的广告而在台湾造成了疯狂的流行，只可惜主唱人Terry Jacks当时早就在歌坛消失了。这位男歌手留下来的歌曲本来就不多，不过这首歌却成了经典——尽管他的诠释老实说有点失真。
新主唱历史
来自加拿大的Terry Jacks成长于，高中时代曾经赢得艺术奖学金，但是在建筑师、职业高尔夫与音乐这三种行业中，他却选择了后者，并且自组了一支The Chessman乐队，不过并不成功。有一次，他的乐队应邀上电视表演，使他结识了一位漂亮的女歌手Susan Pesklevits，两人一见钟情，随即结婚、并且展开音乐事业上的合作。
由于当时的唱片市场上，似乎以合唱团比较吃香，所以尽管只有他老婆一个人独唱，他们还是决定用The Poppy Family为名，并且在1970年以获得美国排行亚军的「Which Way You Goin' Billy」一曲成名。可惜的是，这对夫妻在1973年就宣告分手了。
离婚之后，Terry Jacks继续在歌坛奋斗。由于吉他弹得不错，他应邀为Beach Boys伴奏。有一次，在录音的时候，他建议Beach Boys灌录「Seasons in the Sun」这首歌。不过，录完之后，可能是由于效果不如理想，Beach Boys决定不发行。而极为喜爱这首歌的Terry则为了追悼一位意外过世的好友，决定自己来灌唱。
Terry取得作者的同意，把最后一段歌词稍加修改，同时以轻快的节奏处理，使歌曲显得轻松一些，可是完工之后，在架子上一摆就是一年。有一天，他把带子放出来听，正好一位年轻的送报生来到他家，听到了这首歌，于是要求是否可以带自己的朋友过来欣赏。
使Terry决定自己发行这首歌曲。果然，这首歌在加拿大造成了轰动，美国的唱片公司也慕名而来，取得了发行权。1974年三月，这首歌不但获得三周排行冠军，更成了金唱片，销售达六百多万张，使他名扬四海。不久之后，他又灌录了另外一首同样由McKuen翻译成英语的Brel作品「If You Go Away」，也得到了不错的成绩。可惜的是，他在歌坛只是昙花一现，一年之后就销声匿迹了。
说的是1963年的冬季，美国冷得彻骨，来美国乐坛闯荡的加拿大男孩Terry Jacks坐在没有暖气的屋子里喝着白兰地，耳边放着法国歌手Jacques Brel的《Lemoribond》。来美国也不少日子了，但却没有音乐人对他的音乐感兴趣。他看起刚刚朋友塞给他的一张名片，背后抄了一个死刑犯的临终遗言，听着《Lemoribond》，看着名片背后的字，他拿起了吉他开始轻轻弹唱……
“在五十年代美国的一个小镇上，有两位少年，我们暂且称之为A和C吧。A和C出生于同一个社区，从小一块儿长大，他们总是一起爬树、游戏，有时候还一起干一些出格的事。反正无论如何他们都形影不离，即便是上学，他们也都是在同一个班级，如此一直到高中。A和C虽然是绝好的朋友，但他们却性格迥异。A绝对是那种你看一眼就为之倾倒的男孩：他活力十足，开朗阳光，自信，对运动也十分在行，因而人缘颇好，全校中暗恋他的女生不计其数，他还是学校橄榄球队的队长。而C的性格却恰恰相反，他很敏感害羞，不善于表达自己的情感，但是他的手工却很棒，会做各种模型。
“一切过的都很不错，但上帝却很折磨人，他让这两个男孩同时爱上了B，性感迷人的班花。结果可想而知，C默默地注视着他的朋友和爱人在一起……一直到了毕业，C成了一名木匠；而A当了卡车司机，并和B结了婚，婚后生下了女儿Michelle，B也经营了一家杂货店，那是她的嫁妆。然而，为了让家人生活得更好，让女儿能获得良好的教育，A不得不跨好几个州甚至横跨整个美国去运送货物，因而一个月只能回家一两趟来看看家人，隔一天又要坐车去送货了。相比之下，作为木匠的C就轻松多了，所以他经常来杂货店给B帮忙。
“但是时间一天天过去了，B和C日日相对，两颗孤独的心越靠越近，逐渐产生了超越朋友之间的那种感情，那种感情维系了两年，而A却丝毫没有察觉，他依旧疼爱家人，信任朋友……
“在1959年的隆冬，A依旧开着卡车上了洲际公路，但是连天的大雪使公路被封闭了，人们不得不等待公路的解封。但A等了两天，情况似乎不见好转，天气预报说这种恶劣的天气还将持续一周，于是A掉转车头开回了家，这一开又过了三天。半夜两点终于快到家了，他下车满心欢喜地给家里打了电话，但迟迟没人接听。A很担心，想到是不是女儿生病住院了。他立即开车去了C家，想打听家里的情况。他敲开了c家的门，在他眼前的竟然是两个人——他的朋友和他的妻子！这种场面即便A再迟钝也立刻明白发生了什么事，他望着眼前这两个人，只说了'Why？'这种问题哪里给出答案！A掏出防身用的手枪结束了妻子和朋友的性命，然后驾车径直驶往警察局。
“他原本可以逃往临州免于死刑，但他选择了径直去警察局，在本州审判，陪审团一致通过他犯故意杀人罪，被判处死刑，于日执行电椅死刑。他被关在死囚牢里，离行刑还有三天，一张纸和一支笔塞了进来，给他写临终的遗言。”
虽然在法律上，A犯了故意杀人罪；但在民间，许多人却认为在道义上a也是极大的受害者。于是，人们纷纷传抄他的遗言，Terry Jacks在1963年拿到的那张名片背面的遗言，就是朋友抄的。terry jacks将a的遗言填入《Lemoribond》的曲中写成了《Seasons in the sun》。他四处给音乐人弹唱这首歌，但哪个音乐人会给一个无名之辈投资呢？最终，他找到了Beach Boys，把这首歌唱给他们听。这首歌很棒，Beach Boys自己将这首翻唱，可惜他们无法传递出这首歌的情感，于是Terry Jacks借了录音棚把这首歌录了一遍。然而因为他们当时专辑的歌满了，没有将此歌收录进去。直到十年之后，1973年，这首歌终于一炮而红，之后有许多翻唱的版本。　在第二种歌曲背景下，对歌词做点解释：　和大家常看到的不同，都是We have joy，we have fun 　Westlife版是We had joy，we had fun 　原版是用“have”的，表示作者的一种希望之情，他希望能永远快乐，但是死亡逼近，已经永远不可能了。

A-Ha，80年代有史以来最红的组合，加盟了WEA公司，颠峰作为：“The Sun Always Shines on T.V.”，A-Ha前身是由Pal Waaktaar和Magne Furuholmen组成的Bridges。在八十年代初，随着Morten Harket的，才更名为A-Ha。
1983年，他们加盟了公司，并在1985年推出了单曲“Take on Me”，这首单曲在英国取得了排行榜第二名的成绩，并夺得包括美国、德国、等全球9个国家的排行榜冠军，并夺下8座MTV音乐录影带大奖。但这并不是他们的巅峰，仅隔了半年，他们的另一首单曲“The Sun Always Shines on T.V.”夺得了英国排行榜的冠军。凭借这两首单曲的成功，他们的首张专辑《Hunting High and Low》在销量上也取得了巨大的成功。与此同时，他们也受到了更多评论家的关注，以及更多歌迷的拥护。
