ten miles 在这里是做一个整体讲的，所以后面用 is。类似的有很多，最好是边做题边积累。养成一种感觉。或将原句供处垛肺艹镀讹僧番吉翻译成中文理解，然后再判断，也行得通。
重点记住常见的不可数名词，如furniture, nature, space, wealth, information, news, knowledge, traffic等，同时要记住只能修饰不可数名词的数量词（如a great deal of, too much, a large amount of等）；

表示金钱，时间，价格，度量衡的复合名词作主语是，通常不这些名词看作一个整体，谓语动词一般用单数。
这道题中，miles 是属于度量衡，所以用单数is .
