Keppel Seghers provides technologies for the treatment of municipal solid waste and sludge. Its waste-to-energy (WTE) plants use advanced technology solutions to generate green energy from waste and help in landfill diversion by as much as 90% through reduction in the volume of waste disposed, thereby maximising the value of waste streams and minimising the environmental impact.

Keppel Seghers Tuas Waste-to-Energy Plant
Keppel Seghers Tuas WTE Plant is Singapore's fifth incineration plant built, and the first to be done so under the National Environment Agency's Public Private Partnership initiative.
Developed by Keppel Seghers in 2006 and operational since October 2009, it is the first in Singapore to showcase WTE technology from a Singapore company. Built on a land space of only 1.6 hectares, the Keppel Seghers Tuas WTE Plant is one of the most compact WTE facilities in the world.
The plant is equipped with two incinerator-boiler units with one condensing turbine-generator. Incorporating Keppel Seghers' in-house technologies such as the air-cooled grate and flue gas cleaning system, the plant is able to treat 800 tonnes of solid waste daily to generate about 22MW of green energy.

Senoko Waste-to-Energy Plant
Senoko WTE Plant is the third waste incineration plant built in Singapore and is one of the four incineration plants currently operating. It was commissioned in 1992 at a cost of S$560 million on a land area of 7.5 hectares. Senoko WTE Plant is equipped with six incinerator-boiler units with two condensing turbine-generators offering a power generation capacity of 2 x 28 MW.
The Singapore Government decommissioned Ulu Pandan Incineration Plant, the first of the five incineration plants built in Singapore, in August 2009. Following the decommissioning, Senoko WTE Plant is the only waste incineration plant located outside of the Tuas area (which is in the western part of Singapore) and this positions it to serve the eastern, northern and central areas of Singapore.
The Senoko WTE Plant was retrofitted with Keppel Seghers' flue gas treatment technology in June 2012. The upgraded flue gas treatment system is significantly more effective at removing harmful and acidic gases, dust and particulates.
The Senoko WTE Plant is able to treat 2,400 tonnes of waste per day. Together with Keppel Seghers Tuas WTE plant, Keppel can treat almost half of Singapore's total volume of incinerable waste.

Domestic Solid Waste Management Centre
Keppel Seghers was awarded two contracts by the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning (previously known as Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture in Qatar to design and build four Waste Transfer Stations and an Integrated Domestic Solid Waste Management Centre (DSWMC) to handle and treat domestic solid waste for the whole of Qatar. As a Design-Build-Operate (DBO) project, Keppel Seghers will operate the waste management facility for 20 years.
The plant is designed to treat up to 2,300 tonnes per day of mixed domestic solid waste. It comprises waste sorting and recycling facilities, landfill, composting plant and a 1,500 tonnes per day WTE plant.

Greater Manchester Energy-from-Waste Plant
In 2009, Keppel Seghers was awarded an Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract to build an Energy-from-Waste (EfW) Combined Heat and Power Plant to serve the Greater Manchester region in the UK.
In 2010, Keppel Seghers was awarded the contract for phase two of the project. With the total capacity to treat 750,000 tonnes of waste per year and generate, at full capacity, 83 MW of electricity and 51 MW of heat, the plant will be one of the largest EfW facilities in the UK when both phases are completed.

Waste-to-Energy Plant in Baoan, Shenzhen, China
Keppel Seghers is one of the leading providers for imported WTE solutions in China. Its proprietary technology was supplied for the expansion of the Baoan WTE plant in Shenzhen, Guangdong.
Keppel Seghers' technology enabled the facility to treat an additional 3,000 tonnes to the previous 1,200 tonnes of municipal waste per day. Completed in 2013, the WTE plant is the largest in China with a total capacity to treat 4,200 tonnes of municipal waste per day.
The key components of the first phase of the plant were also provided by Keppel Seghers in 1999, when it was built. Back then, the plant was also the largest WTE plant in China.
