在今年2月份，参加了AAAI 2017，在带来一系列报道的同时，我们还举办了一场线下聚会。几天下来，编辑有一个鲜明的感受：会场到处都是华人面孔，都能听到中文，甚至有一种&我一定是来到了假美国&的感觉。作为中国媒体，我们自然会对参加了AAAI的中国企业及论文团队多加关注，而《The Atlantic》也敏锐地捕捉到了这个趋势，并撰文《China&s Artificial-Intelligence Boom》。
每年冬天，来自世界各地的数百名人工智能研究人员都会齐聚AAAI。去年，当AAAI宣布2017年的年会将会在美国新奥尔良一月下旬举办时，日程安排上爆发了一场小危机。地址OK，然而年会举办的时间却恰巧与中国农历新年重叠了。
在过去，农历新年对这些活动毫无影响，然而现在，中国的研究人员成为会议不可或缺的部分，如果没有了他们，会议甚至不能举行。因此时间进行了重新安排。&（就像）没有人会把AAAI会议放在圣诞节假期中&，现任的AAAI主席Subbarao Kambhampati（Rao）如是说，&我们不得不花费巨大的人力物力并且改变年会举办的场所，终于将时间定在一个星期之后。&
最终决定在旧金山举办的AAAI 2017 终于在上周闭幕。如同预期的一样，中国的研究人员们在这个曾经被本土的美国力量淹没的会议中展现了近期人工智能领域极强的实力，中国和美国在该领域发表的论文在数量上相当。&如果你知道中国在甚至在3、4年时间以前的状况，那么就可以知道目前的发展是相当令人惊讶和令人印象深刻的。&Rao这么讲。
中国在AI研究方面排名的迅速提高引起了人们的关注。在去年八月，奥巴马当局的白宫发表了AI研究的&战略性规划&，规划中提及了人工智能领域的一大热门话题&&&深度学习&，但是，美国再也不是期刊文章发表的引领者了。那么，到底哪个国家取代了美国的地位呢？答案当然是中国了。
不单单是学术研究的领域，中国的科技公司在人工智能方面也表现不凡。其中，百度（中国本土的搜索引擎公司，时常被比作美国的谷歌），滴滴（比作美国的Uber），和腾讯（时下火爆的通讯应用软件微信的缔造者）都成立了他们自己的人工智能实验室。因为有着数以百万计的用户，这些公司拥有了巨大的数据量，并用作AI的检测训练。
就像微软和谷歌在世界上的地位一样，中国的这些技术公司预见了AI的巨大潜力。在未来的几十年内，它可以形成一整套变革性技术，从人脸识别技术到自动驾驶技术。&现在很难找到一个完全脱离AI的工业技术了&，百度的首席科学家吴恩达如是说。他曾经联合成立了Coursera和Google Brain及百度的深度学习项目。现在他主管百度的AI研究部门，这个部门正位于美国加州硅谷的森尼维尔。
中国在AI领域的成就部分得益于政府在各大高校进行的科学研究投资。在过去的十年里，政府用在科研上的支出平均每年两位数的增长。用于科学和技术研究的经费仍然是一个重要的优先事项，去年三月份，国家五年计划特别提出了这一点。
第一次接触到在世界级AI会议上现身的中国研究者时，Rao说通常他遇到的都是来自于清华大学和北京大学，这两所高校被认为是中国的MIT和哈佛。现在，他见到的论文来自于全国各地，而不仅仅是那些最为精英的学校了。机器学习，包括深度学习在内，近期成为了特别热门的话题。&对机器学习应用感兴趣的人数在全中国大幅增长&，Rao这样讲。这与白宫提到的人工智能的研究战略规划上的内容契合。
中国的技术公司现在也在给各大高校倾注资金。香港科技大学计算机领域的科学家杨强就与腾讯合作，后者会对他实验室的学生进行赞助。这些学生拥有从微信平台拿到的大量数据（微信是腾讯开发的，将facebook，iMessage和Venmo融于一体的应用软件）。&没有大量的数据和测试使用的数据平台，AI是不能实现的。&杨博士讲到，同时这也是为什么企业的合作在AI的发展上起到关键作用的原因。作为回报，腾讯可以获得一些学术实验室最具创兴性的研究成果。不仅如此，一些曾经被资助的学生在毕业后也会选择在腾讯工作。
在中国人工智能研究飞速增长的同时，美国的研究者们依然停留在对一些最基本的理论型突破的研究上。&其中包含了对网络架构的新猜想的研究&，吴恩达提到。而中国学者们擅长的则是抓住一个想法，比如机器学习，然后再挖掘出不同的应用。
吴恩达也认为，随着在中国这些研究成果的愈渐成熟，中国也将成为一个独立的具有特色的AI发展社区。近期在巴塞罗那举办的NIPS后，他表示印象中很快就有相关的中文报道，然而鲜见英文报道。这样一来，语言上的差异会导致某种意义上的不对称：比如，中国的学者们已经习惯了英文的表达，所以他们适应了英文阐述的方式，然而那些英语环境下的研究者们，则不能在中文环境中工作。
&中国对英语国家所发生的研究进展有着深入的认识，但反过来却并非如此。&吴恩达说到。他指出，百度已经推出了AI支持的机器翻译和语音识别，但是等到谷歌和微软近期这样做时，美国公司才得到了更多的普及和宣传。
中国的公司在落地新功能的效率同样飞快。&在中国，工作的进展比硅谷的大多数公司更快，&吴恩达提到。&当你在中国有一个新奇的商业想法时，市场可以给你的时间通常非常短，而美国的反射弧通常更长。&
杨博将这一点归结于中国的高竞争力的生态系统。举个例子来讲，微信基于二维码兴起了一系列的新功能，包括聊天，支付和发现新朋友，这些功能丰富了在中国的日常生活。然而，美国的社交媒体却始终执着于过去。&腾讯的产品经理能深刻认识到客户的真实期望，并且他们可以迅速的将技术落地&，杨博提到，&通常他们的迭代周期非常短&。并且为了继续保持先进性，他们积极的将AI融合进去，以达到更好的产品体验效果。尽管中国的科技公司将AI技术的使用广泛推广到国际市场还有待考证，但他们在中国，已经将AI作为重要的吸引客户的武器了。

processes will
be entirely electronic and will be conducted online using

Paper Proposals: Authors who wish to participate in the
conference need to register with the
on-line submission system and then use it
to submit their paper proposals.
The technical paper submission (up to 6 pages)

Review Process: Technical paper proposals will be reviewed,
using the online review system, by experts selected by the conference
Program Committee for their demonstrated knowledge of relevant topics.

Final Papers: Authors of accepted technical paper will
prepare a final version of their paper and will submit it using the
EDAS online

account reviewers' comments. The final paper must be completed and
submitted on
or before the "Final Submissions and Registrations" deadline listed
Registration: The final version of an accepted paper will

review process easy for

proposal, the Technical Program Chairs will assign your technical paper
committee of reviewers (not fewer than three reviewers) for their
demonstrated

proposal and will rate it according to quality, relevance, originality,
clarity of presentation. The conference Technical Program Committee
