This cool casino is powered by Viper Software which is provided by Microgaming which shows right off the bat that the graphics and sound effects will be out of this world. By Kingsley OpurumMembers of the National Assembly and other government officials yesterday in Abuja ranked high the quality of products on parade at the ongoing 1st Made-In-Aba Trade Fair put together by Senator Enyinanya Abaribe as part of his constituency project.
Declaring the fair open, the Senate President, David Mark, called for the patronage of products made in Nigeria as against the current trend of mass importation of products.
Mark, who was represented by Senator Smart Adeyemi, bought collapsible ballot box and urged the executive arm of government to officially endorse products made in Aba and other parts of Nigeria.
In his address, Senator Abaribe said he decided to bring Aba to Abuja as part of efforts to mainstream manufacturers in that part of the country and save Nigeria from being hooked on products made outside the country. The music and film industries according to him, were doing so well home and abroad and maintained that the leather and metal sectors could do as much.
Abaribe said it was high time the country looked inwards. He said that Abuja was chosen as the venue of the exhibition because of its proximity to policy makers.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Alhaji Bature Masari, said the fair would provide MSMEs in Aba with the investment opportunities that exist in other parts of the country and would be exposed to the various sources of finance for their businesses and the procedure for assessing them.
While thanking the facilitator of the event, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, for the initiative, Masari pledged SMEDAN's continued support to the MSMEs in Aba and the patronage of Made- in- Nigeria products at all times, adding that the fair would avail them the platform to interact with the various regulatory agencies of government for the purpose of improving their businesses. He also disclosed that about 1000 cooperative groups and their business plans were currently being handed over to the Bank of Industry (BOI) for appraisal and funding, while thousands more would also be forwarded subsequently to the bank for funding.
The DG, who said that under its National Enterprise Development Programme (NEDEP) and the One Local Government One Product (OLOP) programmes, the agency has conducted sensitisation/needs assessment programme in 22 states and was currently conducting baseline survey and value -chain analysis in six pilot states namely Lagos, Bayelsa, Anambra,Kano, Benue and Bauchi, also revealed that the registration of cooperative societies and trade associations were on-going in these states, just as they were being assisted to develop bankable business plans as a prelude to access to finance, markets and machinery/ equipment.
