The past decade has witnessed the modern advances of high-throughput technology and rapid growth of research capacity in producing large-scale biological data, both of which were concomitant with an exponential growth of biomedical literature. This wealth of scholarly knowledge is of significant importance for researchers in making scientific discoveries and healthcare professionals in managing health-related matters. However, the acquisition of such information is becoming increasingly difficult due to its large volume and rapid growth. In response, the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) is continuously making changes to its PubMed Web service for improvement. Meanwhile, different entities have devoted themselves to developing Web tools for helping users quickly and efficiently search and retrieve relevant publications. These practices, together with maturity in the field of text mining, have led to an increase in the number and quality of various Web tools that provide comparable literature search service to PubMed. In this study, we review 28 such tools, highlight their respective innovations, compare them to the PubMed system and one another, and discuss directions for future development. Furthermore, we have built a website dedicated to tracking existing systems and future advances in the field of biomedical literature search. Taken together, our work serves information seekers in choosing tools for their needs and service providers and developers in keeping current in the field. pubmed中查文献全文收录期刊信息的简洁方法

pubmed检索到文章,有的并未给出全文下载链接,此时我们就有必要了解该文章是收录于哪个期刊,以及这个期刊的出版商等信息。由此我们可以了解该文章被收录于哪个期刊,这个期刊又收录于哪个综合数据库当中。经过摸索,最近又发现一种更好的便捷操作查找文献收录期刊详情的办法。例如,要了解 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8815566# 这个文章被收录于哪个期刊,及期刊的具体信息,可按下图所示操作: 从中我们可以知道该文章就是收录于 Thromb Haemost 这个期刊。要了解该期刊的详情,只需在期刊名字 Thromb Haemost 上双击,在弹出的菜单中点击 NLM Catalog 这个选项即可。点击后,会看到如下期刊详情信息: 图中,我用红色短线标出的内容是重要的内容,这里就告诉我们该期刊是被收录于什么地方了。
例子演示:Trial with bacillus Calmette-Guérin and epirubicin combination in the prophylaxis of superficial bladder cancer.http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8178379打开该文献在 pubmed 中的链接,发现这篇文献确实有些特殊,pubmed收录的关于该文献的信息中竟然没有该文献的doi 编号,也没有显示该文献被收录于什么数据库。我从谷歌学术中搜索该文献,企图找到该文献被收录于哪个数据库的信息,但是谷歌学术中却检索不到该文献。然后,我又从 scirus 学术搜索引擎中检索该文章,发现scirus 说该文献被收录于 pubmed, 结果一切又回到问题的原点。 那么怎么办呢?还好,虽然pubmed 上没有提供该文献被收录于哪个数据库的信息,但是还是告诉了我们该文献被收录于哪个期刊杂志。如下图所示,鼠标移动到红色圈起来的链接 uiol lnt 上后,网站显示出该文献收录于期刊 Urologia Internationalis 知道了该文献收录于此期刊后,我们下一步要做的事情就是通过该期刊的名字,查到该期刊被收录于什么数据库。通过使用百度搜索引擎,我查询到该期刊的一些信息如下图,图中显示该期刊的出版商中是 karger 至此,我们终于发现了客户要下的文献是被收录于 karger 数据库中的。有了这一讯息后,底下就好办多了,就是在英文数据库中找到 karger 数据库,进入其中下载该篇文献即可。更多精彩内容,关注生物学霸:
