食甜品的女人最娇媚，会做甜品的男人最窝心。酥点、巧克力、提拉米苏......浓浓的甜怀抱齿间，暖暖的香流淌心田。&
甜品常常是一餐中的最后一道菜at the end of a meal，甜品的英文说法有好几种：dessert，pudding和sweet. 三个词的意思虽然相同，但用法稍有不同。&
Dessert是从法语desservir借来的字，表示&to clear the table& and &to serve.& 。Desserts包括：cakes, cookies, fruits, pastries, ice cream, and candies. 这个词广泛地应用于美国、加拿大、澳大利亚、爱尔兰。The dessert is seen as a separate meal or snack rather than a course, and may be eaten apart from the meal. In colloquial American usage &dessert& has a broader meaning and can refer to anything sweet that follows a meal, including milkshakes and other beverages. 除了指餐后最后一道菜，随时吃的甜品都可以叫dessert。美国口语化的用法中，dessert有更为宽泛的用法，它可以指任何包括奶昔和饮料在内的甜食。
Putting是从法语boudin借来的字，而它最初则源自拉丁文botellus，表示&small sausage& ，因为中世纪的欧洲，pudding一般都是塞着肉的小食。Pudding与dessert的应用地域不同，pudding主要是英国和印度的说法。
Sweet同Pudding的应用地域相同，但是应用的阶级不同。在英国上层和中上层阶级（ the upper-class/upper-middle-class ）眼中，pudding is the proper term, dessert is only to be used if the course consists of fruit, and sweet is colloquial. 上层阶级的人只认pudding，只有带水果的才会说dessert，而sweet则是不如他们法眼的口语说法。
甜品的称呼之所以有阶级之别，是因为在制糖业尚未机械化的时候，sweets were a privilege of the aristocracy, or a rare holiday treat，吃糖也是富人才能享有的特权，所以他们当然非常在乎对它的称呼了。
但对美国人来说，sweet只是形容词，pudding只是布丁，餐后甜点只称dessert，也泛指餐中最后一道菜，包括芝士和水果。
说到甜品，我们不得不提下chocolate。Chocolate愈浓愈好。&浓&的英文是rich，也是&有钱&的意思，所以英文里有句语带双关的话：chocolate and men, the richer the better.
形容很浓的chocolate cake，可以说a very rich chocolate cake 或者sinfully rich chocolate cake，甚至可以叫chocolate sin.说到夸张的命名法，不得不提到death by chocolate，这应该是巧克力蛋糕的最高境界了吧。
若要夸张地形容超好吃的甜点，可用orgasmic这个词。orgasm是性高潮的意思，形容词orgasmic则描述像性高潮一样令人兴奋的东西，因为有人研究过，当人吃甜食的时候，脑部神经会发出一种同性高潮一样的讯息。例子：an almost orgasmic chocolate cake.
