　　I would say my most favorite place to study is the coffee shop. when I need
to do some schoolwork, I would stay inside of the coffee shop, it is so quiet

for exams. when I feel like to practice my speaking English, I can always have
the choice to go outside sit around the patios to read out loud. Despite all
these advantages, I can enjoy a cup of good-tasting coffee. Also, if I am
hungry, I will get some cookies and that will give me enough energy to
　　2. Describe an experience that you worked well with another person. Explain
why that experience is important to you. Include reasons and details to support
your response.
　　I would say my first internship in a local bank in my community is very
precious to me. I worked together with Tony Wang, he worked there for lots of
years, and he is a very nice guy and willing to help newcomers to grow in a
professional setting and he taught me a lot, I owe him a lot.
　　Since I was not familiar with way that people do their works in the bank,
he told me it is important for me to be sensible and aware of the dynamics in
the company and keep a low profile. He offered to help me with working
procedures and treated me like a little brother.
　　3. Talk about an interesting school activity that you participated in
recently. Give details to support your response.
　　Actually, there are lots of school activities one can do, like working out
in the gym, reading books in the library, and stuff like that. I would say I
like to work out and play sports in the gym most.
　　In our school, we have a very up to standard gym. There are lots of
facilities in it, like a very nice swimming pool, basketball court, badminton
court and stuff like that. As a college student I am busy with all kinds of
assignments like papers, group projects and even presentations. Go ahead, and
playing some sports is of great fun, cuz I can relax myself and totally forget
my pressure in my study.
　　4. Which of the following volunteer work would you choose and why? 1.
Working as a home tutor 2. Helping adults 3. Helping old people.
　　If I were given a chance to do some volunteer work, I would help the
seniors. Now there are more and more retirees in my country, and the nursing
homes and senior center are not doing a very good job to help the seniors. There
are quite a few things that I can do to help the seniors, I can read them
newspapers, to help them get access to what is happening around the world. I
also could assist them to tidy up their rooms so they might have a very good
mood every day. Apart from that, I can just talk with them, seniors get lonely
easily, and by interacting with them, they will feel a sense of belong to the
community and there are someone out there who care about them. With all the
above reasons and more, I would volunteer to help seniors.
　　5. Describe a job you admired but you will NOT choose it yourself.
　　I think the job that I admire is the government official, I would say it is
the most challenging profession, they are responsible to solve complex social
problems like, education, Medicare, and the economy of the region or country.
These issues are just tricky and hard to deal with. Another reason that I admire
them is that they have to sacrifice their private life to public scrutiny and
they have no privacy, it's like living in a golden fish in a bowl. This is a
very noble profession, however I admire the profession, I would not dare to
become a government official.
　　6. Talk about an organization or a club that you would like to join.
Explain why you would like to join this organization? Please include reasons and
details in your response.
　　I would like to join in the swimming club, cuz if I joined the club, I
would have a chance to compete together with my teammates to represent my
university. That would be a great honor for me. In some competitions, I have to
work with my teammates to win the game, and it gives me a strong sense of
belonging and I feel I am needed by the team, my teammate and I would cheer up
each other and get inspirations, encouragements from my fellow teammates. On top
of that, I am a big swimming fan, when I am swimming in the pool, I feel so
relaxed and it is a very good way to keep fit.
　　7. Which of the following Art classes would you be more interested in
taking? Wood Sculpture, Painting or Photography?
　　I would say I like to take the photography class, I have a very genuine
interest in photographing, and I am very passionate about expressing myself
through imageries. I take pictures to record my own life, and it is a very good
way to reflect the past, also I like to help others to remember their precious
moments by photos, like their weddings, graduation ceremonies and some other
special events. I just feel that when I am not using my camera, there is a void
in my life. But I still need to get better in photographing, so I would like to
take this class.
　　8. Describe an important day in your life.
　　The most important day in my life was my college graduation day. I
graduated from a prestigious university in the Unites States, but it was
challenging for me. Four years before I graduated from college, the first time I
set foot on the land of America, I felt so isolated and had tremendous language
barriers. However, during my four years in college, I not only improved my
English language proficiency, but also kept a high GPA and was on the dean's
list every year. But, I know that this day does not come easily, it symbolizes
the time and effort I put to get my diploma.
　　9. Which of the following community service would you choose and why? 1.

　　If I got a chance to do some community service, I would like to choose to
clean the city park. Well, in my city, people do not really pay attention to
environment protection. There are rampant littering, and spitting everywhere.
The park is supposed to be place where citizens can have fun and get some
relaxation. Unfortunately, it is not very neat and clean. I would like to make
it a better place for community members to enjoy themselves, and by consciously
participating this kind of activity, hopefully, I can influence my friends and
strangers around me so that they will be aware that environment protection is
really urgent.
　　10. Describe a type of music that you would like not to listen to.
　　Well, this is a very interesting question and I have never thought about
it. Generally, I like all kinds of music that is catchy and rhythmic. Since I am
a person who likes peace and inner solitude, so I guess I do not like to listen
to music that is very harsh and noisy, like rock and roll, and I think heavy
metal is the worst. The only reason I listen to music is to get some relaxation
and enjoy my free time, however whenever I listen to heavy metal, I feel I am so
disturbed and very uncomfortable.
　　11. Describe a way of life in your country has been changed and why it is
beneficial.
　　I would say the big change in my country is the construction of the express
train or bullet train to put it in another way. To begin with, it is now super
convenient for people to travel somewhere, like, in the past, it took me 5 hours
to go to Beijing by regular train. Now it only takes me an hour and a half and
actually it is not so expensive. Secondly, speaking on a larger perspective, the
construction of the express train helps to boast the economy of the country. For
instance, lots of jobs are created, cuz new rail ways need to be built, so more
worker are needed.
　　12. Describe a family member who has a different personality from you and
explain why?
　　I would my dad has a totally different personality from me. I am very
passionate and optimistic person, and I like constantly taking challenges in my
life and do something that I have never experienced before, like studying
abroad. However, my dad is quite a conservative person, he would never do
something that will make him stand out, and frankly, he is kind of pessimistic
and sometimes cynical about the world, specifically, he would complain about
negative things in life instead of thinking on the bright side.

task every day. Which one do you prefer?
　　I would like to choose a job that requires me to do lots of tasks. First of
all, sitting in the office and repeating the same task again and again can be
killing. I will be really bored doing these repetitive tasks, and my working
efficiency will be very low. Secondly, doing lots of tasks can develop myself to
be a well-rounded person, now the job market is very competitive. If you are
trained to do different kind of tasks in a professional setting, you will be
more attractive in the job market, thus have a better shot in getting a
higher-paid job.
　　2. Some people think that employees should be required to wear formal suits
by their bosses. Other people think that employees should be required to wear
casual clothes by their bosses. What is your opinion and why?
　　I think professionals should wear formal suits instead of casual outfits.
Firstly, wearing suits and ties can showcase their professionalism. I have never
seen professionals like lawyers, salesmen, or businessmen dress in casual
outfits when they are working in a professional environment. Secondly,
requirement on dressing code is a kind of a discipline that all the employees
should observe in workplaces, when they are dressed up, they will feel a sense
of responsibility and thus spare no effort to accomplish bigger goals, based on
these reasons, I think employees should definitely be required to wear suits in
a working environment.
　　3. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? University
students need to study harder in school in order to get a job upon
graduation.
　　Personally, I disagree that university students should study harder in
order to get a job upon graduation. The real reason that a fresh graduate cannot
get a job is that they lack soft skills, like communication skills, leadership
and even organization skills. Corporations place great importance on these
skills, and they are decisive to get a job in the future. Studying hard and
getting a high GPA has nothing to do with getting a job in the future. Instead,
they should socialize with different people and enlarge their social network,
after they get enough valuable connections, they will have no problem finding a

　　Personally, I definitely think that children should do household tasks as
soon as they are old enough. Lots of important qualities can be developed
through such activities as doing housework. Children will learn to be
responsible person, and that is a like cornerstone to lead them to become a
better person. On top of that, children will get a sense of achievement when
competing the house chores, their parents might even give them some reward like
buy them toys or offer them some pocket money. Through such activities, children
will be likely to be very determined and motivated when they do bigger projects
in their adulthood and be successful.
　　5. Some people prefer to buy innovative high-tech products like cell phones
and computers when they first came out, others would buy them after the price
has been decreased. Which do you prefer and why?
　　I would say I like to buy innovative high-tech products after the price
goes down, and I have a few reasons for support. First and foremost, products
with cutting edge and state of the art technology are usually very expensive
when they first come out, and as a college student I do not have lost money to
waste on that, cuz I have to pay college tuition, textbooks and stuff like that.
Additionally, we consume technological products for its convenience and they
will be as valuable and convenient as they firstly show up in the market, so it
is more advisable to buy that after a while.
　　6. If you have time, would you choose to learn to play a new musical
instrument or learn to play a sport.
　　I would definitely choose to play a new sport. I find it very relaxing when
I play sports, it helps me to release my tension and depression that I got from
both my life and study. Apart from that, playing sports is a very good way to
keep healthy and try to be in good shape. It helps you to build up some muscles
and be athletic, it is also good for your cardio vascular system. Lastly, I get
a chance to meet new friends and broaden my social network when playing a sport,
getting to know different people is a very thrilling experience for me.
　　7. Some people like to stay at home and reading books or studying, while
others like to socialize and relax with friends. Which do you prefer?
　　I would say I definitely will hang out with my friends, as an extremely
outgoing individual, I find it more interesting when spending time with friends
like doing karaoke, eating out in a fine restaurant, and even playing some
sports. By interacting with my friends, I get quite a few benefits, like I can
broaden my horizon and have unique perspective on things. Also, when we do stuff
together, I feel like I can connect more with them emotionally, and that helps
to sustain our friendship forever, and I think it is safe to say that at least
human beings are social animals, we need to socialize with people to be happy
and fulfilling.
　　8. Some students prefer to study for only one long time during a week.
Others students prefer to study for several short times during a week. Which way
do you prefer and why?
　　I prefer to study for several short times instead of studying for a long
time during a week and have the following reason for support. You know, as a
college student I am very busy with all kinds of studies, we have different
kinds of assignments, like presentations, group projects, papers to write and
exams. Studying for several short time makes it possible for us to take a rest
once in a while, however, studying for a long time during a week without any
break will kill me and of course, we will be so worn out and not as productive
as studying for several short time.
　　9. Some people like to participate in activities alone, others like to do
that with a team or group. Which way do you prefer and why?
　　Personally, I would like to participate in activities in a group, I am an
extrovert and outgoing person, and I think it is more fun when there are people
around me. Plus, I can also learned the importance of cooperation and
responsibility when I am with a team, for example in a sport competition, me and
my teammate struggle together for a common goal, offer each other motivation
along the way, and I feel that I care something bigger than myself during the
game, and I think this is very meaningful.
　　10. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement. Watching TV is
not a way to use time.
　　I think it really depends, TV programs like documentaries can be very
informative, and they target different kinds of audience. They cover lots of
topics like sports, animal world, history, and even religions. you can really
learn a lot about all kinds of stuff. It is very good to watch these shows,
however, if someone is indulged in watching meaningless TV programs like
different kind of reality shows and even some of the TV sit-coms, it might cast
a huge negative impact on their study and work. To sum up, it you are capable of
striking a balance between watching good TV shows and meaningless one, watching
TV is very good way to use time.
　　11. Do you prefer to live in a place where you have access to
transportations and shops or somewhere distant but quiet areas.
　　Living in a place where there is no noise is absolutely my choice. A place
like the suburb or country far away from the noise and pollution is very
favorable to me, even though it might not be convenient to live in. I hate the
hustle and bustle of the city. Particularly, I spend almost all my life living
in the city to suffer the noise and be choked by the polluted air, I want to get
away from the city. I like the solitude, clear skies, and peaceful evenings in
the suburbs or country and it is pretty romantic. Living in suburbs or country
makes it possible for me to be close to mother nature.

that alone. Which way do you prefer and why?
　　Personally, I would like to participate in activities in a group, I am an
