闻乐天授江州司马
残灯无焰影幢幢，此夕闻君谪九江。
垂死病中惊坐起，暗风吹雨入寒窗。
⑴江州：今江西省九江市。
⑵幢幢(chu&ng)：灯影昏暗摇曳之状。
残灯已没有火焰，周围留下模糊不清的影子，这时听说你被贬官九江。
在垂死的重病中，我被这个消息震惊得忽的坐了起来。
暗夜的风雨吹进我窗户，感觉分外寒冷。
《闻乐天授江州司马》是由元稹所作的七言绝句诗。这首诗创作于作者得知白居易遭贬后。整首诗表达了作者知道好友被贬后极度震惊，和心中的悲凉。
　　唐宪宗元和十年（815）八月，诗人的好友白居易因宰相武元衡在京城被人刺杀，上疏极请追捕凶手，查清这一事件，陈词激切，得罪权贵，被贬为江州司马。当时诗人被贬通州，正卧病在床，听到这一消息，心情非常难过，立刻抱病写下了这首诗远寄江州。
　　起句即事写景：&残灯无焰影幢幢&，夜深了，灯残油尽，只剩下昏暗的灯影在摇曳。接着二、三两句叙事、抒情。&此夕闻君谪九江&，在这样凄凉暗淡的深夜，忽然听到好友被谪九江的消息，不禁&垂死病中惊坐起&，& 惊坐起&三字，把消息的惊人和闻者的震惊以及当时难受的心情，都强烈地表达了出来。末句以景结情，&暗风吹雨入寒窗&。夜已很深，诗人惊坐床上，只听见风雨扑窗的声音。凄凉的景色与凄凉的心境融恰为一，情调悲怆。
　　这首诗用简练生动的语言，通过&残灯无焰&、& 影幢幢&、& 暗风吹雨&等一系列的凄凉景象的描写和气氛的烘托，充分表现了诗人对好友被贬的哀伤不平和凄苦的心情。白居易在江州读诗后，深受感动。后来在《与元微之书》中说：&此句他人尚不可闻，况仆心哉！至今每吟，犹恻恻耳。&
　　清沈德潜说此诗&过作苦语而失者&（《说诗眸语》），这样说恐怕是欠妥的。作者与白居易相交至密，友情极深。二人同受权贵打击，被迫离京，左迁外郡，心境都很凄凉，发而为诗，语言悲苦，自是真挚感情的流露，这是很自然的。这一类诗，在二人诗集中还有很多。
《唐才子传》说：&微之（元稹）与白乐天最密，虽骨肉未至，爱慕之情，可欺金石，千里神交，若合符契，唱和之多，毋逾二公者。&由此可见，两人的感情深厚，而彼此酬答的诗作亦充满挚情。
