每一种文字之所以存在和得以繁衍必然有其存在的价值和意义。曾经听过一个演讲说到每个民族为什么会使用自己的语言而不是同一种语言,还有非母语学习者为什么不及母语使用者,他的观点非常好,他说每个民族既然创造出属于本民族的语言,那么这种语言就最适合本民族表达他们的感情,非母语学习者达不到这一点。汉字,区别于字母文字,是象形文字。具有古老的生命与活力,汉字大致分为象形和形声两种,在数千年的发展中,汉字被赋予了各种美好的解释和意象,中国人使用汉字创作出大量的经典诗词歌赋,这是难得的瑰宝。汉字短短一句话浓缩的感情和意义是字母文字所不能及的,可以说字母语言仅仅是字符,而汉语言除了字符之外还是文化和艺术,甚至历史。

As an international study in Oz I have to say 'vocabulary exponsion' really hits the point. To continue my study I am required to remember another 6000 English words, that feeling is absolutely disgusting. It's hard to imagine such kind of problem can appear in Chinese.
